Tomorrow on Beginning I talk to performance artist Nate Hill.
Now, here’s the thing. Nate’s not a famous comedian, so I feel like people are going to sleep on this episode. I get it. If Maron interviews Comedian X who was a road comic in the 80s, I skip that too. But Nate’s an interesting dude, who does funny public “pranks” or public performance artpieces - I dunno what I’d call them exactly, but they’re worth hearing about, as well as Nate’s thoughts on empathy and art, and what it was like growing up in Florida, as well as how he works out his issues with his estranged dad through his art. It’s a good talk, and I hope you tune in and also subscribe to the show as well!

Here’s a pic of Ales Kot I found online because I forgot to take a pic of him with my shitty camera phone that always seems to be semi-blurry. He is the writer of Zero for Image as well as Winter Soldier and Secret Avengers for Marvel. He is on Beginnings tomorrow, and we have a wide ranging discussion about growing up in the Czech Republic just as communism is collapsing, as well as about everything from whether or not Werner Herzog threatened Klaus Kinski with a gun to whether sociopaths will win in the end. Subscribe to the show and hear Ales’ interview tomorrow!

Cool week with two episodes! On Tuesday, I talk to guitarist/composer/all-around interesting dude Arto Lindsay. Arto was a foundational part of the 1970s no wave scene in New York and grew up in Brazil just as a military dictatorship took over. He’s a cool guy with a fascinating story. And then on Thursday, I talk to Will Cullen Hart of Olivia Tremor Control and The Circulatory System. Subscribe to the show and hear Arto’s interview tomorrow!

Very excited about this week’s ep. with Conner O’Malley, a writer for Seth Meyers. Conner grew up in Chicago in a family of elevator mechanics, and was on the path to become an elevator mechanic himself. Hear about that, his father’s horror stories about elevator accidents and more on this week’s episode! Subscribe to the show and check the full thing out tomorrow!
