Ep. 6: Rich Fulcher
Wrestling Team
Beginnings

What leads people into comedy? What’s it really like starting out? How can you build a lasting career? Each month, Wrestling Team interviews other comedians on their Beginnings.

While Wrestling Team has a number of influences and loves a wide variety of comedy, there are two people above all that we really look up to: Bob Odenkirk and Rich Fulcher. Both men are extremely silly but are also very honest. Also both love yelling and swearing, which is our bread and butter.

Fulcher got his start doing improv in Chicago and eventually found himself out in Britain where he hooked up with Julian Barratt and Noel Fielding and wrote and performed on The Mighty Boosh radio and TV series, as well as the live show. Later he created the insanely beautiful and odd sketch series Snuff Box. In the last year, Fulcher wrote a book and has been performing all over the world as his character Eleanor the Tour Whore.

We Skyped in to Rich’s cellphone as he was at the studio in the UK recording a song as Eleanor for his upcoming shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Special thanks to Rich’s webmaster Zöé Caldwell for her help in setting up the interview!
